What are formulas?
Where can formulas be used?
What can Formulas do? An overview.
An introduction that looks at formulas in a real life report and shows the vast possibilities available.
Controlling the Flow 1 Hour
IF logic, how it works and why it is important.
Basic Formula Examples – Looking at real life examples of basic Formulas manipulating Strings, Numbers, True/False (Booleans) and Dates.
Variables 1 Hour
Learn how to store multiple results in one Formula to really unleash Crystal Reports’ potential.
Loops 1.5 Hours
Search through sets of data, independently of the Reports using FOR and WHILE to analyse data at a microscopic level.
Advanced Record Selection 1 Hour
Build complex conditions for report data by hand for a level of control far beyond that of the Selection Expert.
Advanced Parameters – Use Parameters with formulas for far more than just direct field comparisons and control entire blocks of selection logic.
Date Ranges – Use Crystal Reports’ own built-in date ranges in new and inventive ways for even greater control
Arrays – Build your own sets of data within a report and manipulate them to your heart’s content. 2 Hours
Introduction – Arrays can be a complicated subject, even for seasoned programmers.  Learn the basic logic behind the complexity.  And if you are a seasoned programmer, learn the anomalies with CR Arrays that will trip you up time and again.
Arrays and Text – Change your Text manipulation forever and reinforce the basics of Arrays at the same time.
Typical Array Setup – Real life, step by step examples of setting up an Array in the way you will use again and again.
Array functions – Discover the complete set of available functions which make Arrays extremely powerful.  From summarising Arrays, to listing or copying them, this knowledge should be in every Report Writer’s arsenal.
Formatting with Formulas 2 Hours
Dynamically control the look and feel of any report using formulas.  From simple Text manipulation to changing page orientation and moving fields on the report.
Advanced, Dynamic Formatting Formulas 0.5 Hour
Using HTML within Formulas for an additional level of control.
Grouping and Formulas 1 Hour
Mix groups with advanced formulas for increased reporting versatility.  Show more information in each report, and summarise on the unsummarisable!
Working with NULL0.5 Hour
Annoyed at those groups with data, but no name?  The bar in that chart with is bigger than all the others but has no label?  This because of NULL values in your database or as a result of bad calculations.  Learn how to stop it!
Miscellaneous topics 1 hour
A smorgasbord of sample formulas in action that solve a host of problems.  Not everything may not be immediately relevant, but I promise there will be at least a Eureka moment or two
